Kansas City, MO
The Missouri Chapter of the National Jericho Movement in Kansas City is committed to building a National Coalition for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTRC) that will work to have the United States government to recognize and release the Political Prisoners & Prisoners of War (PPs/POWs). FBIs illegal Counter Intelligence Program (COINTELPRO) actions left many leaders dead, in exile, or incarcerated for long periods of time due solely to their political activity and affiliations. The Kansas City Chapter is currently involved in organizing youth around three major issues impacting our generation; police brutality, student loan debt, and the criminalization of immigration. Our goal is to organize the Million Youth March on Washington DC to unite youth of all backgrounds around these issues.
In the wake of the lynching of Michael Brown the Missouri Chapter Jericho has been documenting and collecting evidence on racial profiling and the human rights violations committed by local law enforcement in St. Louis. We have also assisted in the development of Truth and Reconciliation Conference that is tentatively to take place at Morgan State University under the direction of Dr. Ray Winbush the head of Urban Research on August 14-16, 2015.
