Larry Hoover is currently incarcerated in an Illinois state prison. Following Trump's commutation of his federal sentence in May 2025, Hoover was transferred from ADX Florence federal supermax in Colorado to an Illinois facility to serve his remaining state sentence for a 1973 murder conviction,

Authorities have not disclosed the specific location of his current prison due to "security concerns." His case is now pending before Illinois Governor Pritzker, who is reviewing his clemency petition after a hearing before the Illinois Prisoner Review Board in April 2026.
